How We Review

Our process, our scoring, and exactly what we do and don’t verify.

Publisher: Top 10 For Kids · Last updated: September 9, 2026

Every ranking on Top 10 For Kids follows the same method, so our guides are consistent, comparable and genuinely useful - not just a list of whatever a brand is promoting. Here’s exactly how we work.

Our review process

  • 1. Choose the products that matter. We start from what parents actually consider in a category, across price points and needs.
  • 2. Gather official facts. We collect specifications, prices and any required subscriptions from manufacturer and retailer documentation.
  • 3. Compare on consistent criteria. Each product is judged on the same weighted factors for that category (for example: safety, true cost, performance, battery, ease of use).
  • 4. Weigh real-world evidence. We factor in published editorial reviews and recurring themes in verified parent feedback.
  • 5. Score and rank. Products are scored out of 10 using our published weightings. The scores set the order - nothing else.
  • 6. Check and date prices. Prices are checked and dated, and we treat any ongoing subscription as part of the real cost.
  • 7. Keep it current. We revisit guides as products, prices and plans change, and log meaningful updates.

What we verify - and what we don’t

Documented: prices, specifications, features and warranties, taken from manufacturer and retailer documentation.

Assessed: scores reflect published editorial reviews and recurring parent-feedback themes, weighted by our published method.

Not independently lab-tested: unless we state otherwise, we do not run our own accuracy, battery or drop tests. We’d rather be transparent about this than imply testing we didn’t do. Always confirm current prices, plans and coverage before buying.

No pay-for-placement

We do not accept payment to include a product or to rank it higher. Affiliate commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure) never change a ranking or a verdict.

Health, safety and “YMYL” topics

For products that touch health or safety - such as vitals-tracking baby monitors - we clearly state their limitations, note that consumer devices are not medical devices, and recommend following official safety guidance and consulting a professional. We will always choose caution and accuracy over hype.

Corrections

If you spot an error or something that’s out of date, please tell us. We correct mistakes promptly and note significant changes in each guide’s update history.
